Prof. Dr. Serdal Korkmaz is a hematologist and faculty member at the University of Health Sciences, Kayseri Faculty of Medicine, Department of Hematology, Kayseri, Turkey. He is also both the director and founder of the Department of Hematology, Therapeutic Apheresis and Stem Cell Transplantation Center of the same hospital. In addition, he is a member of the Faculty Board. He is the chairman of the transfusion committee, and the director of the local Blood Bank, and the Regional Hemovigilance Coordinator. Additionally, he is the founder of some respectable associations with regard to hematology in Turkey. As a transplant physician he has a particular interest in the care of patients with leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma, and is interested in apheresis science, transfusion medicine, inflammation, and thrombocyte disorders.
He has authored over 100 articles in national and international refereed scientific journals, and wrote books and book chapters related to hematological disorders and apheresis. He took part in national and international journals as an editorial board member. He is currently the Vice-President of Asia of the World Apheresis Association.
