Dr. Fevzi Altuntaş

Dr. Fevzi AltuntasDr. Fevzi Altuntas is a professor at Yıldırım Beyazıt University School of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine and Hematology. He is the chief physician of the Ankara Oncology Training and Research Hospital, the director of the clinical research center and Phase 1 drug research center. Currently, he is also the director of the BMT Center, which performs more than 100 BMTs per year.

He is a pioneer in the development of BMT & Therapeutic Apheresis Centers in Turkey. He has had a significant contribution in providing the necessary training in this field. Prof. Dr. Altuntas has received several awards, some of which “The Best Research Award of Transfusion Medicine”, “The Best Research Award of Transplantation”, “The Best Research Award of Hematology”, The Best Research Award of Hematological Oncology, “Physician of the Year in 2010 in Turkey of the Turkish Ministry of Health”, “Testimonial 2010 of Turkish Ministry of Health” and a “Lifetime Honorary Award”.

Dr. Altuntaş is the Past President of the “World Apheresis Association”. He has been invited to symposiums and seminars as a speaker in over 100 national and international congresses and has been the Secretary-General and the President of numerous national congresses. He is a JACIE Inspector and a Scientific Board Member of the Turkish Ministry of Health of “Stem Cell Transplantation”, “Transfusion Medicine”, “Therapeutic Apheresis” and Scientist Support Programs of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey. 

Dr. Altuntaş is a senior editor of Trans & Apher Science. He has reviewed for some medical journals such as Transfusion, J Clin Apher, Trans & Apher Science, Trans Med & Hemotherapy, Clinical and Applied Thrombosis/Hemostasis, Bone Marrow Transplantation, BMC Infec Disease, etc. He has also conducted more than 50 international, multicenter, randomized clinical trials. He carried out the Covid19 vaccine Phase 1 and 2 trials of the virus-like particle at the Ankara Oncology Training and Research Hospital Clinical Research Center.

His areas of specialty are apheresis, BMT, leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. So far, he has published around 150 international SCI/E articles and over 600 national/international scientific papers, and about 300 poster presentations at national/international scientific meetings. He wrote more than 50 books or book chapters. His works have been cited in over 2700 articles. His Web of Science H Index is 25, and his i10 index is 48.
